The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is a Eurasian political, economic and security alliance. Covering three-fifths of the Eurasian landmass, 40% of the world population and 20% of global GDP. It is the world’s largest regional organization.
The SCO is governed by the Heads of State Council (HSC), its supreme decision-making body, which meets once a year.
Joint military exercises between its members are carried out regularly in order to increase operational capability and coordination against terroirm and external threats.
