The leader and founder of the Arya Samaj was Dayanand Saraswati. Arya Samaj was the first Hindu organization to introduce proselytization in Hinduism. The organization has also worked towards the growth of the civil rights movement in India since the 1800s.
Dayanand Saraswati was a sanyasi (ascetic) from boyhood and a scholar. He believed in the infallible authority of the Vedas. Dayananda advocated the doctrine of Karma and Reincarnation.
