ICSE Rules and Regulations

ICSE or Indian Certificate of Secondary Education is an exam in India for Class 10 students. ICSE has been designed to provide an exam in a course of general education, according to the New Education Policy 1986, through the medium of English. The ICSE focuses on a student’s overall growth, thus providing a balanced curriculum to all its learners. The Indian Certificate of Secondary Education Examination will ensure a general education without any diversification of studies as all candidates are required to enter and sit for six subjects and Socially Useful Productive Work. The ICSE exam is conducted by The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations.

When it comes to syllabus, ICSE follows a comprehensive syllabus that has an interactive approach towards education. The Board prepares the syllabus for all the subjects with equal importance. The syllabus of ICSE is well-structured, comprehensive and aims to build analytical skills and practical knowledge to its students. It also considers internal assessments to be very important for a student’s development. The ICSE syllabus includes a summary and list of chapters to be studied during the teaching and learning process in a particular class or grade.

We have mentioned below some of the important ICSE rules and regulations as mentioned in their official website.

  • For framing and revising the curriculum and the syllabus of the ICSE, the Board has a Committee on Examinations and Subject Committees. The committee also handles criticisms and suggestions given for the website. The members of the team are well-trained examiners and specialists.
  • When it comes to attendance, the ICSE follows strict rules. Candidates with less than 75% attendance, are not allowed to sit for the examination. This is inclusive of absence due to illness and other special circumstances.
  • All the schools affiliated to ICSE are provided with their own booklet which contains the ICSE rules and syllabi of the Board.
  • If any candidate is found not following the ICSE rules and regulations of the Board regarding the examinations, then the candidate or the candidates concerned may be disqualified.
  • Under ICSE rules, strong emphasis is laid on vital and practical texts and assignments. The affiliated schools should have labs for subjects such as Maths, Science, Computers, etc. The marks scored in these tests are added to the overall score of the student.
  • According to ICSE rules, every school should include environmental education as one of the compulsory subjects.
  • ICSE exam question paper is a balance of objective and subjective questions. ICSE has provided students with the option of choosing one subject from a group of skill-based subjects for the final term exams. They can choose from a variety of subjects such as Art, Dance, Physical Education, etc.

The above-mentioned ICSE rules and regulations have their own advantages that benefit the students in the long run.
