IRDA Exam Pattern 2023

Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) conducts an open competition exam for the posts of Assistant Manager, Manager, General Manager etc. The exam pattern varies with the post. IRDA exam pattern for various posts is given below.

IRDA Assistant Manager Exam Pattern 2023

The exam for the post of assistant manager is conducted in 3 phases, which is given in the table below:

IRDA Assistant Manager Phase- I Exam Pattern 2023

Phase-I is an online examination,which is a screening test. It is of an objective nature comprising Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) related to English, Reasoning, General Awareness and Quantitative Aptitude. Candidates should remember that marks obtained in the Phase-1 online exam will not be used for final selection or interview. The examination pattern of the phase 1 examination with more details on number of questions, total time etc is given in the following table.

Points to Remember: Phase-1 IRDA Assistant Manager Examination

  • Sectional tests except for English language will be provided in English and Hindi.
  • There will be negative marking i.e. 1/4th marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
  • A candidate must clear the cut-off marks for each section as well as the aggregate cut-off marks.
  • IRDAI may decide separate cut-off marks for general posts and each specialisation.

IRDA Assistant Manager Phase- II Exam Pattern 2023

Phase-2 of the IRDA exam for the post of Assistant Manager is of descriptive nature. It comprises 3 papers i.e. Paper I, II and III. Through these papers the candidate’s knowledge of English, economic & social issues impacting insurance and insurance & management is evaluated. Phase 2 is a written examination (WE), hence questions in each paper are displayed on the computer and candidates have to write answers on paper.  As candidates from different subject streams apply for the Assistant Manager post, questions provided in Papers I and II are of foundation level. Points to Remember: Phase-2 IRDA Assistant Manager Examination

  • It is essential that a candidate appears for all 3 papers of Phase-2 in one session.
  • Separate Admit cards will be issued for this purpose.  

IRDA Assistant Manager Phase- III Exam 2023

Phase-III of IRDA Assistant Manager Exam is an Interview. Candidates for Actuarial, Accounts, Legal specialisations and General vacancies are shortlisted for phase 3, if the candidates clear the minimum cut-off marks in phase 2.

The final selection of candidates depends on their combined scores in Phase 2 written examination and phase 3 i.e. interview.

Points to Remember: Phase-3 IRDA Assistant Manager Examination

  • Details pertaining to the interview venue, time and address will be avilable on the official website of IRDAI.
  • Candidates who get shortlisted for phase 3 i.e interview should download their call letter from IRDAI’s website.
  • IRDAI will not entertain any requests related to change in date, time and venue of the interview.
  • The weightage given to the written or descriptive examination in phase 2 and interview in phase 3 is 85:15.
  • IRDAI Can change the date, time, venue or centre of interview or hold a supplementary process for a specific date,venue etc at its discretion.

IRDA Manager, Assistant & Deputy General Manager and General Manager Exam Pattern 2023

  • As per IRDAI 2018 notification, for the posts of Manager, Assistant and Deputy General Manager and General Manager, candidates are selected based on a competitive written examination  (WE) and/or interview.
  • There is no specific syllabus given in the notification (dated 2018) for the written examination  (WE) by IRDAI for the posts of Manager, Assistant and Deputy General Manager and General Manager.
  • IRDAI decides to conduct the written examination (WE) based on the number of applications received for each post(s) in each grade and relative vacancies in each skill stream given in the notification.
  • Final selection for various posts will be based on the performance of the candidates in the written examination and/or interview.
  • Before applying for the posts mentioned above, candidates should ensure that they fulfil the essential educational & professional qualifications and other eligibility criteria including work experience.
