COMEDK FAQs 2023

The COMEDK UGET stands for Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka – Undergraduate Entrance Test. It is a state-level examination conducted by the COMEDK for admission to various engineering and architecture courses in the institutions of Karnataka. 

If you are planning to apply for the examination and wish to clear all your doubts regarding it before applying, you are advised to read this article. All the possible questions regarding the examination are clarified here.

Q1. What will be the medium of instruction for the UGET 2023 Online Computer-Based Test?

Answer: The medium of instruction for the UGET 2023 Online Computer-Based Test will be English.

Q2: During the examination, if I face some issue with the computer, what will happen? 

Answer: You need not worry since enough buffer systems will be available in the centre. The time lost due to the change in the computer will be duly taken care of.

Q3: Will I get a question booklet like in an offline examination?

Answer: No, the questions appear on the computer screen, along with the answer options. The instruction page will also be displayed on the screen before the actual test begins. The time taken to read the instruction will not be included in the examination duration.

Q4: How should I answer the questions of COMEDK in the computer-based test? 

Answer: Four options will be provided for each answer. Using the mouse, one of the answers can be selected. The answers can be reviewed or re-answered anytime during the examination. 

Q5: Are only students from the state of Karnataka eligible to write the examination?

Answer: No, all eligible students from any part of India can write the examination.

Q6: Are the students applying from outside the state of Karnataka eligible for the benefit of lower eligibility qualifying marks?

Answer: Only students from Karnataka who belong to SC/ST or OBC category will get the benefit of lower eligibility qualifying marks.

Q7: I finished my 2nd PUC/12th Std a few years ago. Am I eligible for the engineering courses under COMEDK?

What is the age limit for the engineering courses under COMEDK?

Answer: For B.Tech., you would be eligible as per the norms of AICTE/VTU.

Q8: I want to apply for a course not listed on the course list given on the website. Is it possible to apply?

Answer: Candidates can only apply for only those courses offered by the COMEDK Member Institutions. The courses are listed on the website.

Q9: How to apply for COMEDK UGET 2023?

Answer: The candidates must register on the website comedk.org. On registering, they are provided with a login ID and password. The candidate has to log in and fill in the details on the application form and then submit by uploading the necessary documents.

Q10:  Can I send a black and white photograph with the application form?

Answer: No, the photograph provided with the application form should be a colour photograph. It should not be more than three months old and should not be tampered with.

Q11: What is the mode of payment for the application fee?

Answer: The candidates must pay the application fee only by using the online gateway provided by using net banking, debit card or credit card. The fee cannot be paid using a demand draft. 

Q12: After registration, I did not receive the e-mail. What should I do?

Answer: Kindly contact the COMEDK help desk to clarify and know about further steps to be taken.

Q13: Will the candidates receive a hard copy of the Test Admission Ticket?

Answer: The Test Admission Tickets will be only available online on the official website, and no hard copies will be sent to the candidates.

Q14: If I have to make any clarification in the provisional answer key, should I pay any fee?

Answer: Yes, Rs. 500 should be paid per clarification. If you have more than one clarification, payment should be made accordingly.

Q15: How will I know my test results?

Answer: The results will be uploaded on the COMEDK website only for eligible candidates with their respective login IDs.

Q16: Will a hard copy of the result be sent to the candidates?

Answer: No, candidates must download and take a printout of rank cards from the official website. Hard copies will not be sent to candidates.

Q17: I am unable to view the “submit” or “save” button on the online application form.

Answer: Please check the browser version. Kindly use Internet Explorer (version 10 and above), Mozilla Firefox (78 to 95) or Google Chrome (73 to 96) to fill out the application form. Also, clear your browsing history and cache and retry.

Q18: I made a mistake while filling out the application form. What should I do? 

Answer: If the error is made before clicking the submit button, then it can be rectified any number of times. However, it is not possible to make any changes to the information provided during registration. If the form is already submitted, then changes cannot be made. The candidate must fill out a new application form with an alternate email address. However, the fee, once paid, will not get refunded. 

A correction window will be open after the last date to submit the application form. Any mistakes committed by candidates while uploading photographs and signatures and entering the academic details can be changed during the correction window. Editing options for critical/unique areas, like name, date of birth, etc., is not allowed.

Therefore, candidates are advised to check the details carefully before clicking “submit”.

Q19: How many exams do I have to appear for if I want to apply for both COMEDK UGET and Uni- GAUGE E Exam? 

Answer: Previously, these exams were conducted separately, but now, these exams are combined, and you have to attempt only one exam. The examination is held online. 

Q20: If I want to attempt only COMEDK UGET 2023 or only Uni-GAUGE E 2023, will it be conducted on a separate date, or can I choose the sessions/shifts? 

Answer: No, COMEDK UGET 2023 and Uni-GAUGE E 2023 will be conducted as a combined exam on 28 May 2023.
