Dimensional Formula of Coulomb
The dimensional formula of Coulomb is given by,
[M0 L0 T1 I1]
Where,
- M = Mass
- I = Current
- L = Length
- T = Time
Derivation
Coulomb is the SI unit of electric charge. Therefore, the dimensional formula of Coulomb is the same as that of the electric charge.
Since, electric charge (Q) = current Γ time . . . . (1)
The dimensional formula of,
Current = [M0 L0 T0 I1] . . . . (2)
Time = [M0 L0 T1] . . . . (3)
On substituting equation (2) and (3) in equation (1) we get,
Since, electric charge (Coulomb) = current Γ time
Or, Coulomb = [M0 L0 T0 I1] Γ [M0 L0 T1] = [M0 L0 T1 I1]
Therefore, Coulomb is dimensionally represented as [M0 L0 T1 I1].
