First Step Towards International Olympiads 2020-21
The international Olympiad movement aims to bring together the world’s most talented secondary and higher secondary students of the world together in a friendly competition of the highest level. National Standard Examination (NSE) conducted by IAPT in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Astronomy, Junior Science is the first stage for the international Olympiad. All other phases are conducted by Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) in Mumbai. After the NSE exam, the next step for eligible students is the Indian National Olympiad (INO) exam in their respective subjects and next step is International Olympiad.

National Standard Examination Syllabus and Exam Details

Syllabus:

NSEP, NSEC and NSEB Upto CBSE Class 12
NSEA Physics and Mathematics upto CBSE Class 12 along with basic Astronomy
NSEJS Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics all upto CBSE Class 10

NSEP, NSEC, NSEB and NSEA Sunday, Nov 22, 2020 Physics: 8:30 am to 10:30 am

Chemistry: 11:30 am to 1:30 pm

Biology: 2:30 pm to 4:30 om

Astronomy: 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm

Five Steps towards International Olympiad (IO) Programme

Step 1: Examination

List of exams that lead to the participation of Indian students in the national and international Olympiads organized by IAPT :

National Standard Examination in Physics: NSEP 2020-21

National Standard Examination in Chemistry: NSEC 2020-21

National Standard Examination in Biology: NSEB 2020-21

National Standard Examination in Astronomy: NSEA 2020-21

National Standard Examination in Junior Science: NSEJS 2020-21

Step 2: The eligible students can participate in Indian National Olympiad (INO) 2021 in respective subjects. For details visit the official website: https://www.iapt.org.in/.

Step 3: Orientation Cum Selection Camps (OCSC). For these camps, about 35 students in each of INPhO, INChO, INBO, INAO and INJSO will be selected for about two weeks at Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) Mumbai.

Step 4: Selected students will have a Pre Departure Training (PDT) for two weeks.

Step 5: Participation in International Olympiad (IO). Indian teams to participate in International Olympiads-2021 will be selected on the basis of performance of students in respective OCSC.

In addition, about 5 toppers from INPhO may get an opportunity to partcipate in Asian Physics Olympiad Programme (APhO), which will be held in: 1st week of May 2021.

Awards: Students qualified for OCSC will be awarded Gold Medals and a merit certificate in all the subjects.
