JEE Advanced 2020 FAQs Released

Answers to all Frequently Asked Questions about the JEE Advanced 2020 exam have been released. According to the FAQs, candidates belonging to the OBC and EWS categories must now submit their respective category documents after April 1st when registering online for the JEE-Advanced exam. If a candidate fails to submit related documents, he/she should opt for the general category.

Students eligible for the “Physical Disability” category get an extra hour in both JEE-Advanced papers.

The exam will be conducted in two sessions:

First Session: 9 a.m to 12 p.m. and

Second Session: 2.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.

The result of the JEE-Advanced exam will be declared on 8 June.

Tie-Breaking Criteria for JEE Advanced 2020

There are possibilities that two or more candidates have the same score. In that case, the following tie-breaking criteria will be applicable for determining the merit of the candidate.

[1] Candidates with higher positive marks receive a higher rank. If this criterion fails to break the tie, the following method will be followed.

[2] The candidate who has achieved higher marks in mathematics will be assigned a higher rank.

[3] If step 2 fails to break the tie again, then the candidate who has obtained higher marks in physics will be given a higher rank.

[4] If none of the above satisfied, the candidates will be ranked the same.

Eligibility Criteria for Foreign Candidates

The admission criteria are the same for Indian and international applicants. Seats allocated to foreigners are surplus with a cap of 10% of the total number of seats in each course. Foreign nationals are not permitted to reserve seats in the government-designated categories OBC-NCL, SC, ST and PwD as mandated by Govt. of India.

Foreign candidates do not have to write JEE (Main) 2020 and can register for JEE (Advanced) 2020 directly subject to fulfilment of the eligibility criteria.

About JEE Advanced 2020

The JEE Advanced exam will be conducted on May 17 this year by IIT Delhi for admission to 12,463 seats of 23 IITs in the country. The top 245,000 students selected based on the main JEE results to be released on April 30 are eligible for the JEE Advanced Exam approved.
