In a major announcement on 10 December 2020, the Union Minister for Education, Ramesh Pokhriyal said that the JEE Main exam will be held four times starting February 2021 and go on until May 2021. The minister further clarified that the syllabus for JEE Main 2021 will remain the same and students will be given a choice to attempt any 75 questions (25 questions per subject) out of the 90 questions given in the exam. For JEE Main 2020, there were 75 questions which had to be answered by the candidates, 25 each in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.
In order to provide flexibility and reduce stress, the minister said that it has been decided to give the option to candidates to appear in one/two/three/four times in JEE Main 2021 for admission in the coming academic year. For the ranking of the candidate, his/her best performance will be considered.
As per Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal statement, “The suggestion of the Joint Entrance Exam Main (JEE Main) 2021 to be held four times in a year will be examined positively, beginning at the end of February, thereafter in March, April and May-2021, for three to four days during each time.”
