The National Talent Search Examination, commonly known as NTSE is one of the prestigious exams in India. It is a scholarship exam conducted all over India to select those students having the best academic talent.
The examination is conducted at two levels every year: NTSE Stage 1 (State Level) and Stage 2 (National Level). Stage 1 is conducted by states, whereas Stage 2 is conducted by NCERT. NTSE Stage I 2021 was conducted in December 2020 and the NTSE Stage 2 paper is set to be conducted in October 2021. Only the students who have cleared the Stage 1 exam are eligible to appear in the NTSE Stage 2 exam. The NTSE application form 2022 has been released in all states and territories. NTSE 2022 application forms have been released in Bihar, West Bengal, Kerala, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Telangana, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand, HP, Meghalaya, and other states. NTSE registration is available both online and offline.
Candidates who have cleared NTSE Stage 1 are directly eligible for stage 2 and will not have to apply again for the stage 2 examination. Indian students studying abroad will need to fill a separate application form for the stage 2 examination.

- Qualifying Marks: 40% for General Category students in and 32 % for ST, SC and PWD students (in both papers).
- There is no negative marking in Paper-1 and Paper-2.
- The candidates who will qualify for both Paper-1 and Paper-2 separately will only be considered for merit.
- The selection of awardee will be based on the total marks scored in both Papers.
- There will be no paper on Language Test.
- Candidates must report at 9:00 am at the exam centre.
NTSE Stage 2 Syllabus
- Mental Ability Test (MAT)
The MAT section in Stage 2 exam of NTSE will contain questions from various topics like series, analogies, reasoning, problem-solving, figures, classification, coding words, etc. This section mainly checks a candidate’s skills in problem solving and reasoning.
- Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)
This section will contain questions from Mathematics, Science, Social Sciences (Geography, Political Science, History, and Economics).
Eligibility Criteria for NTSE Stage 2
- Students who pass the NTSE stage 1 test in their home state are eligible to take the NTSE stage 2 exam.
- Every state publishes a list of students who have passed the national level stage 2 exam.
- Foreign citizens are eligible to apply straight for the stage 2 exam. They are excluded from the first stage of the examination.They must have received at least 60% in their prior qualifying examination, i.e. in Class 9th.
- After receiving the NTSE Scholarship, such individuals should intend to pursue their higher studies solely in India.

NTSE stage 2 exam
Candidates who pass the stage 1 NTSE test at the state level are qualified to take the national NTSE exam, which is administered by NCERT. On June 12, 2022, the NTSE stage 2 exam will be held. The exam pattern, details, and subjects are identical to those of the NTSE stage 1 exam. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the NTSE Stage 2 exam was postponed until 2021. For all candidates, the NTSE results for Stage 2 are likely to be revealed in January 2022.
