Now, taking the log out,

\(\begin{array}{l}\frac{\sqrt{x+4}}{\sqrt{x-4}}=3\end{array} \)

Squaring on both sides,
(x + 4)/(x – 4) = 32
x + 4 = 9(x – 4)
x + 4 = 9x-36
8x = 40
x = 5
