A thin layer of tightly stretched skin resembling a drum found in the ear is called the tympanic membrane, also known as the eardrum. The eardrum, which divides the middle ear from the outer ear, vibrates in reaction to sound waves.
The exterior of the ear consists of the external auditory and pinna canal. The eardrum, located inside the ear, helps transmit sound waves via the ear canal. The middle ear’s tiny bones are moved by the vibrations of sound waves, which are then sent to the inner ear.
