In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was recently announced that NEET 2020 exams that were postponed from 3rd May 2020, are now scheduled to take place on 13th September 2020. The NTA(National Testing Agency), the conducting body for NEET 2020 is taking into consideration all the precautionary measures for the well being of citizens. Subsequently, NTA is most likely to double up the number of exam centres for a smooth and hassle free conduction of exams.
The Ministry of Human Resource Development has asked NTA to widen its scope of number of exam centres and increase them so that social distance is maintained and practised even in the exam hall where students appear to give exams, as per reports
Now, with this move, the NTA plans to make seating arrangements such that each candidate is seated at least two metres apart from the other. Uptil NEET 2019, distance that has been maintained in the exam hall between any two students was typically one metre apart.
As per sources, this implies that there must be as many as 6000 NEET exam centres and not 3000 to fully accommodate nearly 16 lakh students that are about to participate in NEET 2020.
Interacting with students while in a live webinar, Mr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, the Union HRD Minister informed students that NEET will be conducted by the NTA on13th September 2020. NEET is an offline test, carried out at a national level for students to seek admissions to medical institutes to pursue medical courses across India.
The test which was scheduled to be conducted on 3rd May earlier, had to be postponed in view of COVID-19 as parents and students were facing hardships.
