Thecodont teeth or thecodont dentition describes the morphology of teeth. These types of teeth have well developed roots. Thecodont teeth are deeply embedded in the sockets of the jaw bone. These are present in mammals, certain reptiles such as crocodiles and in distinct animals such as dinosaurs.
Thecodont teeth are rare in reptiles and are found in crocodiles. Most of the reptiles have uniformly arranged teeth, whereas the thecodont teeth of crocodiles have different shapes and sizes which vary as per the placement inside the mouth.
