admin| Last Updated | August 24, 2022, 16:01 ISTCurrently, the CUET UG exam consists of over 27 domain-specific subjects and 33 language subjects.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) is considering making some important changes in different aspects of the CUET UG exams from next year. As per the media reports, Mr Vineet Joshi, NTA chief stated saying that the different subject combinations have led to over 45000 unique combinations of the subjects. Based on the feedback from different experts and the appearing candidates, NTA will be reducing the subjects for future examinations.
Along with this, NTA will also review the feasibility of different exam centres where exams will be conducted before allowing them to conduct the online exams. The feasibility study will also prompt NTA to reduce the number of exam cities from next year. The introduction of a new mechanism for the smooth conduct of the online examination is also under consideration. All the above-discussed points will be taken up in the committee meeting to decide the future of the CUET exams, Joshi added.
The CUET exam is an all-India exam for admissions into different undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes, which is the first of its kind. This year due to various technical problems, CUET UG phase 4 exams were cancelled leading to difficulties and confusion among appearing candidates.
The exam was initially planned to be conducted in 2 phases, with phase 1 conducted on 15,16,19, and 20 July 2022 and phase 2 on 4,5, and 6 August 2022. But due to technical glitches, the CUET UG 2022 phase 2 exams were rescheduled, and the exams were further divided into four new phases. All the exams are scheduled in the month of August, and results are expected to be released within 10 September 2022.
