QS World University Rankings 2023 released: IISC, Bangalore just a few steps away from top 150 list

After securing a position in the list of top 50 universities in Asia as per the Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2022, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore has made the country proud again, emerging as top Indian University in QS World University Rankings 2023. IISC has made it to 155th rank and is now being considered as the fastest rising South Asian University as per the ranking released for Top Global Universities.

The university has taken a long jump of 31 stairs, in QS World University Rankings 2022 the rank was 186. The university has managed to surpass one of the most profound universities of India, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay which has secured 172 rank. Various other IITs which are in the list are IIT such as Delhi, Madras, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Roorkee, Guwahati. A newcomer has also joined the wrestling of universities which is IIT Indore, the university has secured 396th rank in 2023 ranking.

Delhi University might have emerged as Top Indian University but has dropped by 20 places as it has come 501-520 rank to 521-530.

As per the result declared some other universities have also dropped in the list of ranking, University of Hyderabad has dropped to the 751-800 rank, Jawaharlal Nehru University, JNU has dropped to 601-650 rank. Jamia Millia Islamia has also seen a drop as it has dropped from 801 to 1000 ranks and IIT Bhubaneswar has dropped from 701-750 to 801-1000.

Things change with time, but in the list of ranking the toppers have maintained their position. The top 5 universities according to the list are Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MIT, University of Cambridge, Stanford University, University of Oxford and Harvard University. The 6th position is shared by three universities: California Institute of Technology, CalTech and Imperial College London.
