Shruti Sharma from Delhi grabs the first position in UPSC 2021 examination result

The Union Public Service Commission has released the result of the 2021 UPSC civil services exam. The top 4 positions on the toppers list have been bagged by women. The winner of first position is Shruti Sharma, the winner of second position is Gamini Singla, third position Ankita Agarwal and fourth position Aishwarya Verma followed by Utkarsh Dwivedi on AIR5 rank. This is the 2nd time since 2015 that all three candidates who have secured the first three positions in UPSC topper’s list are women.

AIR 1 winner, Shruti Sharma is a graduate from St. Stephens College of Delhi University for her under-graduation and Delhi School Of Economics for her post-graduation. She is an alumni of Jamia Millia Islamia Residential Coaching, where she prepared for the civil services examination. 23 candidates from Jamia RCA have qualified for the Civil Services exam.

The second position winner, Gamini Singla is from Punjab engineering College, Chandigarh. She is a student from the Computer Science Engineering Department.

Ankita Agarwal is AIR 2 position winner. She was elated by her selection and credited her success to her parents. Ankita is from West Bengal. This was her second time, earlier she appeared for the exam in 2019 and secured AIR 239.

685 candidates have successfully been listed. 244 out of these, are from the general category, 73 from Economically Weaker Sections, 203 from Other Backward Classes, 105 from Scheduled Caste and 60 from the Scheduled Tribes

Many profound celebrities including the Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the girls via tweet. In his tweet the Prime Minister wrote “Congratulations to all those who have cleared the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2021. My best wishes to these youngsters who are embarking on their administrative careers at an important time of India’s development journey, when we are marking Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.”

A total of 5,08,619 candidates appeared for the exam. From which 9,214 candidates qualified for Written (Main) Examination which was conducted in January, 2022 and a total of 1,824 candidates cleared the Personality Test of the examination. According to results released at least 25 dis-abled candidates have cleared the examination.
