IEO Class 3 Syllabus

The International English Olympiad (IEO) is a competition for students who have completed an international English language test from all around the world. Students in grades 1 to 12 are eligible to take this test. The IEO Exam is a one-level assessment.

The International English Olympiad syllabus for classes 1 to 12 has been set by the Science Olympiad Foundation. The four areas of the IEO Syllabus 2022-23 are Word & Structure Knowledge, Reading, Spoken & Written Expression, and Achievers. The SOF IEO Level 1 paper has 35 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) for grades 1 to 4, and the question paper for grades 5 to 12 contains 50 questions for 60 points. The IEO syllabus for Class 3 is divided into four sections, each of which includes the topics listed below.

Section 1 Word Power, Homophones, Spellings, Collocations, Household things, Words related to animals, Basic emotions, Clothes, Food, Pets and Animals, etc. Antonyms and Synonyms, Proverbs, Gender, Number, Idioms, Nouns, One Word, Pronouns, Adverbs, Verbs, Adjectives, Prepositions, Articles, Punctuation and Conjunctions, Simple Tenses, Questions Tags, Jumbled Words, Basic Questions, etc.
Section 2 Search for and retrieve information from various text types, such as Anecdotes, Stories, etc. Understand information through timetable format, pictures, etc., acquire a broad understanding of and look for particular information in short texts like Invitations and Messages, etc.
Section 3 Ability to understand situation-based variations in functions, such as greeting, apology, request, introduction, etc.
Section 4 Higher-order thinking questions include the syllabus as per the 1st, 2nd and 3rd sections.

  • Students who are studying for Olympiad examinations should begin studying earlier so that they have enough time to revise.
  • Students are recommended to review the curriculum and test pattern before beginning their Olympiad exam preparation. The Olympiad test is held for six distinct topics by the authorities. As a result, students must consult the syllabus for the appropriate course.
  • Students must be prepared for the section and create a study strategy for it. Make a timetable and evenly split each topic. It’s critical to plan how many days students will have to complete their course.
  • Students may have difficulties grasping a certain portion or topic at times. If you find yourself in this scenario, don’t be afraid to seek assistance from a teacher, mentor, or tutor.
