The Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) holds the International English Olympiad (IEO) every year to evaluate the competency of schoolchildren in the English language. Their goal is to provide a range of questions to assist students in improving their English language abilities. All of SOF’s question papers are subdivided into levels of difficulty. The IEO syllabus is the same from grade to grade, although the complexity of the problems varies.

IEO Syllabus for Class 9
The International English Olympiad is a competition that tests students’ English language skills on a global scale. | Section 2 | Search for and retrieve information from various text types like Classifieds, Dictionaries, Flyers, etc., and understand the information presented in instruction manual format, Message format and others. Acquire a broad understanding of and look for particular information in longer texts like Essays, Editorials, etc. |
| Section 3 | Ability to understand situation-based variations in functions, such as stating preferences, giving advice, making an offer, discussing probability, etc. |
