The Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO) is a mathematics competition in India. The Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO) is a qualifying level for the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) and is considered the IMO’s entry step. The INMO is the third stage of the HBCSE (Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education) IMO. The Indian National Olympiad is a well-known annual mathematical competition held in India for high school students. The INMO exam is held every year by the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education.

Thousands of students from across the country apply for the INMO exam, but only 30 candidates are picked. Following the exam, the selected candidates are trained at the IMOTC (International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp). Six of the best candidates are chosen to represent our country internationally. When an examination is as significant and respected as the INMO exam, it is even more critical to review the previous years’ papers and understand the entire exam pattern.

The Exam Pattern of INMO

The INMO examination consists of six problems that must be solved in four hours. Geometry, algebra, number theory, and combinatorics are all involved in these problems. Calculus is not included in the exam.

What is the procedure for applying to INMO?

Each year, around 900 individuals are chosen to take the INMO test based on various factors. Students should be aware that INMO does not have a formal registration process. Students who pass the prior stage (IOQM) and INMO merit awards from the previous year are given direct admission.

Is the Olympiad more complex than the JEE?

The JEE and JEE Advanced tests are less demanding than Olympiads. To begin with, all the IMO and other Olympiad problems are more complex than those in JEE.
