The National Standard Examination in Junior Science (NSEJS) is the first step in the Junior Science Olympiad Program’s preliminary selection process. Students who pass this level of the International Junior Science Olympiad Program are eligible to advance to the next stage. This test is held at a number of locations around the country.

Every year in the month of November, the NSEJS is held. The top 300 students will be chosen for the NSEJS Stage 2 Examination. The details regarding NSEJS 2021-2022 Eligibility criteria is explained in detail in this article.
Eligibility Criteria of NSEJS
- The student either must have proof of Indian citizenship, such as an Indian passport, or be in a state that allows them to do so.
- Students who desire to take the National Standard Examination in Junior Science should not take any other NSE (National Science Examination) scholarship tests in the same year, such as NSEA, NSEB, NSEC, or NSEP.
- To participate in the National Standard Examination In Junior Science for the year 2022, you must be in grade 10 or below from any school board, such as state board, or ICSE (Indian Certificate of Secondary Education), or CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education), and you must not have completed your board exams before November 2022.
- The student must have been born between January 1st, 2007 and December 31st, 2008 to be eligible to take the National Standard Examination in Junior Science in 2022.
- To sit for the National Standard Examination In Junior Science 2022, the student must have lived in India and been enrolled in an Indian school system from November 2019 or before.

Students in grades 10 and lower are eligible to take the National Standard Examination in Junior Science. The eligibility of NSEJS is unaffected by the background of CBSE, ICSE, or state boards.

Why is the Indian passport required for the Junior Science National Standard Examination
The National Standard Examination In Junior Science is an Indian National Olympiad in which only Indian nationals are permitted to participate. The Indian passport is an official document, and hence a reliable piece of proof that you are an Indian citizen. Rather, not every student possesses a passport, and having one is not required to establish your Indian citizenship; however, you must be qualified to hold an Indian passport.

You may also interpret the degree of difficulty to have a better grasp of where you are, and as a result, improve your preparation by revising.

What is the minimum age to take the Junior Science National Standard Examination?
The NSEJS, which is administered by the IAPT in collaboration with the HBCSE, does not specify a cut-off age for eligibility to take the test. It does, however, stipulate that you must be in Class 10 or below, and although Indians begin school at the age of 3-4, depending on their family’s financial situation and a variety of other variables, age is not an issue particularly stated.

Is the NSEJS sample paper difficulty level the same as the main paper difficulty level?
The difficulty level of the sample papers may be low, moderate, or challenging. Since the competition is fierce and the NSEJS test is demanding, you must be well-prepared to effortlessly complete all levels of sample papers. Even the difficult level will get easier to solve with practice.
