The National Standard Examination In Junior Scientific (NSEJS) is a science olympiad, as the name indicates. In the year 1987, it was held for the first time. The test is one of the most difficult national scientific exams offered by the IAPT (Indian Association of Physics Teacher). NSEJS 2023-2024 is held in collaboration with HBCSE (Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education).

NSEJS Exam 2023-2024 Stages

Stage 1:

Each year, over 80000 people from across the country take the exam, with the goal of qualifying for the merit list, from which approximately 300 students are chosen, based on merit. If the last rank is tied, all students with the same scores at this place qualify to take the second level or stage 2 test.

Stage 2:

This part of the test is more difficult, and qualifying applicants who go to the second stage must meet a cutoff of 50% of the maximum score, also known as the MAS (Minimum Admissible Score). The top 35 competitors in the Indian National Junior Science Olympiad (INJSO) are invited to a two-week programme. After that, a team of six people is chosen to represent India in the International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO).

NSEJS 2023-2024 Eligibility Criteria

  • Students in high school who are in the 10th grade or lower, and who are not expected to pass their 10th board test before November 2023 are eligible for this exam. They might appear as part of their school or on their own.
