Overview of Education in Telangana

Telangana is one of the states in India which is known for offering quality education to the students and enriching them with values and knowledge. The education system in the state is aimed at improving various skills of the students at all levels. There are several state-board affiliated schools in Telangana and the schooling system is 10+2.

In Telangana, the boards that look after the school education are Telangana Board of Secondary Education, Telangana Board of Intermediate Education. Both these education boards aim to provide the best-in-class education, infrastructure and value-oriented education to the students. A few roles of these two boards include:

  • Prescribing syllabus and books
  • Granting affiliations to the schools all across the state
  • Conducting class 10 board exams and intermediate exams (class 11 and class 12)
  • Devising strategies to improve education and supporting educational institutes in the curriculum

It should be noted that the students are required to clear the 10+2 exams to get eligible for undergraduate courses in the state of Telangana. The state is also known to provide reservation education to weaker sections of society in higher education.

Telangana Board of Secondary Education

The Telangana Board of Secondary Education functions under the state Government of Telangana and is responsible for conducting Telangana (TS) SSC class 10 examinations. Apart from conducting exams, the board also affiliates all state schools, private schools, and colleges in Telangana.

Telangana Board of Intermediate Education

The board that looks after the intermediate exams i.e. class 11 and class 12 in the state of Telangana is Telangana Board of Intermediate Education which also looks on the functioning of schools, devising courses and syllabus, granting affiliation, and providing support to the affiliated schools.

Telangana Board Syllabus

The TS syllabus is looked upon by the respective education boards in Telangana. The syllabus is designed by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT, Telangana and is done strategically by brain mapping the requirements of the students. Telangana Board Exam Pattern

The class 10 exams are for 2.45 hours and the subjects include First Language papers, Second Language, English, Mathematics, General Science, Social Studies, OSSC Mail Language, and SSC Vocational Course.

For the intermediate exams i.e. class 11 and 12, there are 500 marks for the arts stream, 470 marks in MPC group (Maths, Physics, Chemistry) for inter 1st year while 530 marks in inter 2nd year. For the Bi.P.C group(Biology, Physics, Chemistry) the total marks in 440 for inter 1st year and 560 for inter 2nd year. It should be noted that the passing percentage is 35% i.e. students need to score at least 35% marks to be able to qualify.

TS Exam Dates

Every year the SSC exams and intermediate exams are conducted across the state of Telangana and the dates are decided by the board. Generally, the TS SSC class 10 exams starts by 2nd week of March and end by March last week or April 1st week. Telangana State Board Results and Grading System

After the commencement of SSC class 10 exams and intermediate exams, the results are declared by the respective boards. Generally, the results for the exams are declared in the month of April every year. The results are available on the official websites and students can download their scorecards.

For the SSC exam, there is a grading system and students are given that according to their respective performances. A brief overview of the Telangana state SSC grading pattern is explained below.
