NSO (National Science Olympiad)

The National Science Olympiad (NSO) is a Science competition for students in grades 1 to 12. The Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) organises it to find and foster future scientists, technologists, and information technology talent in secondary schools.

The National Science Olympiad (NSO) 2022 was held on the 18th of October,3rd of November and 1st of December 2022 by the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF). Participants in the NSO are rated according to their 1st level of performance. After taking the first level of the test, students can evaluate themselves academically on four separate levels: inside the school, at the local level, at the state level, and, most crucially, at the worldwide level. Eligibility Criteria of NSO 2022

Details regarding NSO eligibility criteria for 2022 have been listed below.

Level 1 NSO Exam Eligibility

The NSO level 1 test has no explicit eligibility requirements. All students in the country in grades 1 to 12 are eligible.

Level 2 NSO Exam Eligibility

The following students are eligible for the level 2 exam:

  • The top 5% of students in each class who take the first-level test
  • Top 25 zone and class rank holders
  • Each participating school’s class toppers, with at least 10 students from each class taking the exam and scoring 50% qualifying marks. Students with the best grades, regardless of section, will qualify for the second level if registration is received section-by-section. The winner(s) of the gold medal in the section-wise registrations may or may not qualify for the second level.

  1. All schools enrolled with SOF get a prospectus for SOF NSO 2022, which includes registration materials.
  2. To complete the NSO application form, students should contact their particular institutions.
  3. The schools will subsequently send the completed registration forms and the application costs to SOF within the deadlines provided.
  4. The coordinating teacher assigned to each school will produce the candidates’ roll numbers.
  5. They will also submit a copy of the candidates’ roll numbers.
  6. It is required that each school enrol at least 10 students for the NSO test 2022.

NSO 2022 Syllabus

Part 1 The logical Reasoning section mostly focuses on Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning questions. To learn more about reasoning, read here.
Part 2 This is devoted to science, and it includes all of the pertinent topics and sub-topics.
Part 3 The Achievers’ portion is in Section 3. Higher-Order Thinking Questions are found in this section, which should be approached only after completing the preceding two.

NSO Result 2022

SOF NSO Result 2022 will be released in March 2023.

After the examinations are completed, the NSO results are released within 7 to 8 weeks. Students can use their roll numbers to check their grades.  Students can get their results via their school or by going to the official website. Notably, students who pass the NSO level 1 test will be entitled to take the NSO level 2 exam in February 2023. (tentatively). In March 2023, the SOF NSO level 2 results will be released (tentatively).
