Curriculum for class 9 under Punjab state board is prescribed by the Punjab School Education Board abbreviated as PSEB. This autonomous body work on development and promotion of primary and secondary education in the state of Punjab. The board conduct board exam for various school levels. PSEB is best known for its distinct updated syllabus plan.
Class 9 students under PSEB undertake eight examinations including compulsory subjects and elective subjects. All examinations will have a duration of three hours and carry a total of 100 marks each, except for one paper that is Punjabi or Punjab History and Culture as chosen by students. Punjabi or Punjab History and Culture subject carries total of 75 marks. For each subject, total marks is the sum of Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation(in short CCE)and the marks obtained by students in the final examination.
To get promoted to next standard a student has to score minimum of 33/100 in English, Hindi/ Urdu, Mathematics, Science, Social science, Computer science, Elective subject and 25/75 in Punjabi or Punjab History and Culture.
PSEB supervise the examination for class 9. The question papers are set by the committee of subject experts. Old question papers play an important role in exam preparation. They clearly gives an insight of the examination pattern, distribution of marks, difficulty level of question asked, pattern of problems , time management etc.
