Uttar Pradesh State Engineering Entrance Exam (UPSEE) will longer be held from the next academic session 2021-22. Candidates who want to get a seat in Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow will now have to write the JEE Main which is a national level exam. So, JEE Main will be replacing the state level entrance exam UPSEE.
Going forward, JEE Main scores will be used for admissions in 1.40 lakh seats in 750 colleges across the state. However, students who have appeared and written the UPSEE till date will not be affected by this new decision. As per the official notice released by the varsity, the change will be applicable from the academic session 2021-22.
Prof. Vinay Pathak, Vice-chancellor of Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) has stated “The decision has been taken to scrap UPSEE from 2021. The decision has been made to make preparations from students easier as they prepare for both UPSEE and JEE Main separately. We have decided to implement this from 2021 so as to give students time to prepare in a better manner. Many states are already using JEE Main scores for admissions in their respective states.”
Meanwhile, it has bee reported that the schools associated with the universities will be providing free coaching for JEE Main. Additionally, the varsity has asked students to download the National Test Abhyas app to practice and study for the new entrance exam for free.
JEE Main is a national level competitive exam that will be conducted four times in 2021 by NTA. The exam is held for providing admissions to several B.E./B. Tech courses that are offered at IIITs, NITs and other top engineering institutions across the country.
