What are Concrete Nouns?
In layman’s words, the term concrete means things that can be touched, seen, and felt. So concrete nouns are those nouns that can be felt by all the five senses, i.e. all the concrete nouns are tangible in nature. Concrete nouns include all the different types of nouns such as proper nouns, common nouns, collective nouns, countable nouns and uncountable nouns except the abstract nouns. The reason abstract nouns are not included in concrete nouns is that abstract nouns are not tangible and can’t be perceived by all the five senses. For example, “The Statue of Liberty is in New York City”. Even though the Statue of Liberty and New York City are proper nouns yet they fall under concrete nouns as they can be touched and perceived by the other senses.
