Circulatory system refers to the body system that moves blood, nutrients and oxygen throughout the body.

The circulatory system contains the heart and the blood vessels that circulate blood throughout the body. The circulatory system consists of the heart, capillaries, arteries and veins. While arteries carry blood away from the heart, the veins carry blood back to the heart. The capillary walls are quite thin and through them, oxygen and nutrients are delivered to the cell. The circulatory system helps tissues get sufficient oxygen, nutrients and helps in removing waste products from the body.

The circulatory system in human beings consists of several circuits namely, pulmonary circuit, systemic circuit and the coronary circuit. The pulmonary circuit generates blood flow between the heart and lungs. The systemic circuit makes sure blood flows to and from the rest of the body. The coronary circuit only generates blood flow to the heart.
