What is Throat cancer?

A throat is a muscular tube that extends from the nose to the bottom of the neck.

Throat cancer is a condition that is characterized by the development of malignant tumours in the pharynx, larynx and other parts of the throat region. It is a type of cancer that mainly affects those organs which helps an individual to speak, breathe and to swallow.

Throat cancer is also referred to as the cancer of the glottis, laryngeal cancer, or cancer of the pharynx and vocal cord cancer.

The major causes of throat cancer include certain lifestyle habits like smoking, poor nutrition, poor dental hygiene, genetic syndromes, etc.

Symptoms of Throat Cancer

The symptoms of throat cancer are similar to the allergies and the common cold, hence it can be hard to identify the throat cancer in its initial stages. The common throat cancer symptoms include a lump or clump that does not heal, and a sore throat or a cough that does not go away.
