Haloalkanes and haloarenes are compounds derived from hydrocarbons. If we replace one or more hydrocarbon hydrogen with a halide, it is termed a halogen derivative. When a hydrogen atom is substituted from an aliphatic hydrocarbon, it is referred to as haloalkane. In contrast, if a hydrogen atom is substituted from an aromatic hydrocarbon, it is referred to as haloarene.
