The Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) includes 19 colleges, out of which 6 new IIMs were shortlisted in 2015. This led to more options for CAT aspirants on a massive scale in India. The new IIMs are located at Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Bodh Gaya (Bihar), Sirmaur (Himachal Pradesh), Nagpur (Maharashtra), Sambalpur (Odisha) and Amritsar (Punjab). These new IIMs in India, have started an intake of 140 students each for the postgraduate course and the admissions will be through CAT entrance exam. The top 13 IIMs will be monitoring and mentoring these 6 new IIMs for the initial years.
The List of New IIMs are as followsÂÂÂÂÂ:-
IIM Sambalpur:
Under the mentorship of IIM Indore, this new IIM in Odisha proceeded with the admission process for the first batch of 2015-17.
This is located on the premises of Silicon Institute of Technology, Sambalpur, on a temporary basis. The tuition fee for IIM Sambalpur is 10 lakhs for two years.
IIM Visakhapatnam:
Under the mentorship of IIM Bangalore, IIM Visakhapatnam (also known as IIM Vizag), started their first batch in Post Graduate Programme in Management in 2015. This is located in Andhra Bank School of Business, on Andhra University Campus.
Initial Batch strength of IIM Vizag is 60.
IIM Bodh Gaya:
Under the mentorship of IIM Calcutta, IIM Gaya started the first batch in Post Graduate Programme in Management in August 2015. This is located in Magadh University Campus, Bihar which is approximately 118 acres.
IIM Bihar was renamed IIM Bodh Gaya by the HRD Minister.
IIM Amritsar:
Among the list of new IIMs, IIM Amritsar is the 15th IIM that was established in the year 2015 and set up by the Human Resources Development Ministry and with the help of the Government of Punjab. IIM Kozhikode will be mentoring all activities of IIM Amritsar until it moves to a permanent campus.
IIM Amritsar is temporarily located within the campus of Government Polytechnic College Amritsar.
IIM Nagpur:
IIM Nagpur, one of the 6 new IIMs, started their first batch in Post Graduate Programme in Management on 23rd July 2015. The institute is guided and mentored by the topmost institute for management in India and Asia namely, IIM Ahmedabad.
IIM Nagpur is temporarily located within the campus of VNIT Nagpur(approx 230 acres).
IIM Sirmaur:
Under the guidance and mentorship of IIM Lucknow, IIM Sirmaur had commenced the first batch in PGP in Management in 2015. The initial batch strength is 60 (Batch of 2015-17).
It is temporarily located in Himachal Institute of Technology, Paonta Sahib, Distt. Sirmaur, Himachal Pradesh.
