A computer system functions appropriately based on the combined usage of input and output devices. Learn About Input Device
An input is a hardware device connected to the computer system that sends out data to the computer to process it and controls the signals. Some typical examples for input devices in a computer are touch screen, mouse, keyboard. These are used directly to enter the instructions and information/data. Joysticks and Microphones can also be considered as Input devices. These devices enable the user to key in the commands/instructions and data into the computer. While an input device may send data, it is not equipped to get data from another device. These have complex coding and are user controlled.
Learn About Output Device
An output device is a hardware component used to receive data such as text, graphics, tactile, audio/ video and so on from the computer to conduct a task. The output devices reproduce, interpret or display the results of processing the data. Examples of output devices include a printer, a monitor, speakers and so on. An output device can receive data from another device and generate output with the data. The computer controls output devices, and so the user needs only to see the results, and there is no need to learn the entire process.
What is the Difference between Input and Output Devices?
An input device is connected to a computer that sends out data into the computer, while an output device is connected to a computer that receives incoming data. The data that is sent by the input device to the computer for processing is reproduced or displayed by the output device. While most devices are only either input device or output device, some can accept input and display output, as well.
