A wetland can be struck off the Montreux Record provided it has undergone extensive conservation efforts. Chilika Lake was a wetland that was struck off the Montreux Record following such efforts in 2002.
The Montreux Record is a register of wetland sites on the List of Ramsar wetlands of international importance where changes in ecological character have occurred or are in the process as a result of human activities or natural events.
