An example of radioactive pollution can be the release of ionizing radiation into the environment as a result of human activity. Ionizing radiation includes x-rays and gamma rays.

  • Caesium-137: It is used for radiation therapy in medicine particularly to treat cancer.
  • Strontium-90: Strontium is used in portable power sources for weather stations and space vehicles.
