The main aim of UN-REDD is to encourage developing countries to contribute to climate change mitigation efforts.
Some of these mitigation efforts include reducing greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) by slowing, halting and reversing forest loss and degradation as well as removing the amount of greenhouse gases from the atmosphere.
