What is BOD and COD?

Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) is the amount of oxygen that is dissolved and consumed by biological organisms when they decompose organic matters in water bodies.

Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) is the amount of oxygen that is consumed when a water sample is chemically oxidised.
