The 73rd and 74th Amendments Act, 1992 inserted Part IX and Part IX-A in the constitution respectively. While Part IX relates to the Panchayats, containing Articles 243 to 243-O, Part IX A relates to the Municipalities, containing Articles 243 P – 243 ZG. The provisions in Part IX and Part IX A are more or less parallel or analogous.
