PARAKH stands for Performance Assessment, Review, and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development.
It was established as a National Assessment Centre for standard setting and prescribing the norms to improve the educational system of the country.
PARAKH focuses on determining the process of policymaking, evaluation criteria, and assessment skills.
Guiding the State Assessment Survey (SAS) and National Assessment Survey (NAS) along with monitoring the learning outcomes is another objective of PARAKH.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has proposed the establishment of PARAKH as a part of the New Education Policy, 2020 (NEP).
It also aims to
(1) To promote critical and creative thinking.
(2) Impart industry-related education
(3) Improve the overall education system.
- New Education Policy, 2020 has proposed a new 5+3+3+4 structure for school education. It also recommends increased public spending for education up to 6 % of the GDP.
