What is the main aim of Liberalisation?

In economics context, Liberalization means lessening of government regulations and restrictions for greater participation by private entities. In India, economic liberalisation is initiated in 1991. The main aim of liberalisation is to make the economy more market-oriented and expand the role of private and foreign investment.
