When was Gir forest area declared as a sanctuary?

The Gir forest area was declared as a sanctuary in 1965

The GIr National Park is located in the state of Gujarat. The initial sanctuary was established by the Nawab of Junagadh who fenced off his hunting grounds in order to protect the declining population of Asiatic Lions.
