- Siachen glacier is located in the eastern Karakoram range in the Himalayan mountains.
- The Siachen Glacier is part of Ladakh, which has now been converted into a Union Territory.
- The Siachen Glacier lies to the south of the great drainage divide that separates the Eurasian Plate from the Indian subcontinent in the glaciated portion of the Karakoram. Hence, it is also called the “Third Pole”.
- The point NJ9842 is the point where LOC between India and Pakistan ends. This point lies southwest of the Siachen glacier.
