Which is the highest authority in India for protection for the environment?

The Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) is the highest authority in India for protection for the environment. 

It is the nodal agency for which the Central Government of India has authorised in the planning, promotion, coordination and execution of India’s environmental policies and programme.

Currently the Ministry is led by Bhupendra Yadav, who assumed office in July 2021
