The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), a school education board, is planning to introduce new subjects for ISC (Class 11 and 12) and ICSE (Class 9 and 10) level students. The subjects being Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Machine Learning and Data Science.
The purpose of this is to bring new age technology into the curriculum, for students, at a school level.
Last month the CISCE council signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with I-Hub Foundation for Cobotics (IHFC), the Technology Innovation Hub (TIH) of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi, to design a curriculum for schools with respect to the upcoming technologies.
Gerry Arathoon, CISCE Chief Executive and Secretary, has insisted upon the importance of introducing new contemporary courses for ISC and ICSE students and the need to provide these students with a variety of course choices.
IHFC’s activity in the field of collaborative robotics (COBOTICS) is significant. It was established as an innovation hub for IIT Delhi by the Science and Technology Department of the Government of India.
In CBSE AI related subjects have already been introduced for classes IX and XI, in the years 2019 and 2020 respectively. The CBSE launched an artificial intelligence learning community and platform called AI Students Community (AISC) by collaborating with Intel.
