MHT-CET Eligibility 2020

Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET or MHCET) is conducted for admission to courses like B.Tech/B.E, B.Pharm and Pharm D in the state of Maharashtra. It is conducted by State Common Entrance Test Cell, Mumbai for admission to various institutions in the state of Maharashtra. 

Candidates should satisfy the MHT-CET eligibility criteria 2020 to appear for the examination. The eligibility of MHT-CET 2020 is based on different factors.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidates who want to attempt MHT-CET must be an Indian citizen. There is no age limit to apply for MHT-CET 2020.

1.Maharashtra State Candidature

The candidate can claim only one type of candidature from the following list

Type-A

  1. 1. Candidates who have passed the following examination from a recognised institution in the state of Maharashtra
  • SSC
  • HSC
  • Diploma in Engineering
  • Bachelor of Science

2. The candidate whose domicile is Maharashtra and/ or is born in the state of Maharashtra

Type-B

Candidates whose father or mother is domiciled in the state of Maharashtra and possess Domicile Certificate (For the candidate who does not come under Type-A)

Type-C

The candidate whose father or mother is an employee of the Government of India or Government of India Undertaking and who has been posted and reported to duty in the state of Maharashtra before the last date of submission of Application Form.

Type-D

The candidate whose father or mother is an employee or retired employee of the Government of Maharashtra or Government of Maharashtra Undertaking.

Type-E

Candidates passing SSC and/or HSC examination from a recognised institution located in a disputed Maharashtra Karnataka Border Area and whose mother tongue is Marathi.

  1. All Indian Candidature

The candidates having Indian nationality are eligible under this category.

  1. Minority Candidature 

The candidate belonging to a particular linguistic or religious minority community from the state of Maharashtra.

  1. Children of NRI / OCI / PIO

  2. Children of Indian workers in the Gulf countries 

  3. Foreign Nationals

(The candidates belonging to category 4, 5 and 6 are exempted from appearing for MHT-CET 2020)

Please Note:

(a) It is mandatory to appear for MHT-CET 2020 for candidates having Maharashtra state candidature and minority candidature seeking admission to BE/BTech. However, All India candidature candidates may or may not appear for MHT-CET 2020 as the score of JEE (Main) shall be preferred over MHT-CET 2020 for admission to BE/BTech.

(b) It is mandatory to appear for MHT-CET 2020 for candidates having Maharashtra state candidature, minority candidature and All India candidature seeking admission to BPharm/ PharmD

  1. Jammu and Kashmir Migrant Candidature

  • The children of citizens who have moved to a different part of India or to a relatively safer part of Jammu and Kashmir after 1990, due to terrorist activities.
  • The children of Indian Administrative Services (IAS), Indian Police Services (IPS) or Indian Foreign Services (IFS) officers posted in Jammu and Kashmir.
  • The children of staff belonging to military or paramilitary forces transferred to Jammu and Kashmir to combat terrorist activities.
  • The children of staff and officers of Jammu and Kashmir police engaged in combating terrorist activities.

MHT-CET Eligibility Criteria for Engineering

All the students should be of Indian nationality and they should fulfil the following educational requirements to apply for Engineering courses.

  1. Passed HSC or equivalent examination with the subjects and qualifying marks, as mentioned in the table below

No, you can apply to the Engineering colleges in Maharashtra with your JEE (Main) score itself.

No, you will be eligible for admission in first-year engineering only if your pass percentage in the diploma is more than 50%
