Maharashtra Education Minister Ashish Shelar Announced To Appoint A Committee To Revise Evaluation Norms Of Different Boards

Last year Class 10th SSC board examination internal assessment marks were scrapped due to which the overall pass percentage of students was reduced by 12 percent. After the change, students of Maharshtra SSC Board found it difficult to seek admission in their desired colleges as compared to their counterparts ICSE and CBSE students.

After the SSC Result 2019 were out over 620 students applied for Photocopy while 133 applied for Verification of marks. To discuss the downfall of the students’ results Yuva Sena Chief Aditya Thackeray had met Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and also requested him to make necessary changes to the next curriculum year. The State Government in order to solve the admission issues had anounced that colleges should increase 5-8 percent of seats.

Maharshtra Education Minister Ashish Shelar, on July 10, announced that a committee will be set up to revise the evaluation norms of different boards i.e. SSC, ICSE, CBSE, IGCSE and IB and will be presided by him. Notably, the internal assessment fetched 20 marks for students and the written exam would be of 80 marks but after the new regulation was implemented, students had to appear for a 100 marks written paper which, in turn, reduced their average percentage.
