NEET is a pen-paper test, carried out in the offline mode and is a 200-minute long test with the majority of its syllabus constituted by the class 11 & 12 syllabi. Medical seats have been increased with the inclusion of 10% reservation under the EWS category (Economically Weaker Section). This is because NEET is the single level examination for admissions to more than 1 lakh medical seats in nearly 532 medical colleges and 313 dental colleges across India (as per previous trends). With this increase in the number of seats, there are more chances now than ever for aspirants to get through NEET and hence to medical institutes in private, government, central/deemed institutes.

From the academic session 2020-2021 onwards, as stated by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), the authorities for New Delhi, Puducherry, AIIMS, JIPMER, candidates’ NEET scores decide their admissions to around 1,205 AIIMS MBBS and around two hundred JIPMER MBBS seats that are presented in different colleges.
The column also states the details of the gross intake in all INI (Institute of National Importance) JIPMER and AIIMS institutes apart from the MBBS and BDS seats presented in India are through these exams.

MBBS/BDS seats in India – Increase In The Number Of Seats
To put up with these necessities, the Government of India has been striving to increase the seat availability in medical and dental colleges in view of the increasing requirements of India’s exponentially growing healthcare division through the NEET exams year on year. Here the objective is to pervade more and more doctors in this field and hence intensify the system.
