Not in a rush to merge JEE and NEET with CUET: NTA

UGC Chairman, announced in an interview which was conducted on August 16, 2022, that there is no rush to merge JEE and NEET with the Common Entrance Exam. CUET JEE NEET merger CUET JEE NEET merger: In a recent interview with Press Trust of India, the Chairman of UGC, Jagadesh Kumar, stated that technical glitches won’t be a factor which might affect the merger of NEET and JEE with CUET. Due to the technical issues, more than 50,000 candidates were not able to attempt their CUET examination. As a result, NTA had to reschedule the examination. Recently, it was announced that NTA is planning to merge India’s two most competitive examinations, the Joint Entrance Examination and the National Eligibility Entrance Test, with CUET. The Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) is being conducted in the country for the first time. The second most registered examination, CUET-UG, didn’t go as smoothly as planned because of various technical glitches which spread across the system. Due to these technical glitches, the question papers could not be uploaded on time. The hurdle came during the examinations, which were scheduled to be conducted between August 4th and August 6th, 2022. There has not been any news of technical glitches now as NTA opened a fresh window. With this merger, the National Testing Agency aims to lessen the burden of multiple entrance examinations. The plan is still in the process of being framed. There is no rush for execution. CUET became the second most registered examination after 14.5 lakh candidates registered for it. The scale of CUET is quite huge, as compared to other entrance examinations, and since it was the first time NTA faced some issues while executing the examination, The agency tried to provide the desired exam centres to the registered candidates, but due to some issues, the examination centres on the admit card were deferred. Candidates also raised issues related to the syllabus and the difficulty level of the examination. Phase 4 of the CUET examination began today, on August 17, 2022. According to reports, approximately 3.6 candidates have registered for the examination.
