INBO Exam Syllabus and Exam Pattern

The NSEB and INBO syllabus is almost equal to the CBSE board’s senior secondary level (until class XII) for the first and second stages. The syllabus for the third stage is the same as that of the International Olympiad. Because of the continuing pandemic in the country, the organising organisation, HBCSE, has chosen to consolidate the phases of the Biology Olympiad Program, and hold the NSEB and INBO exams as a single test. This will be a 3-hour test with two parts: Part 1 (National Standard Examination For Biology) and Part 2: INBO

INBO syllabus is similar to the NSEB syllabus and covers the following topics:

  • Plant Physiology and Animal Physiology
  • Anatomy of plants and animals
  • Cell Biology – Structure and function of cells
  • Microbiology
  • Biotechnology
  • Protein Synthesis and Transportation
  • Cell Division – Mitosis and Meiosis
  • Reproduction In Organisms
  • Principles of Inheritance and Variation
  • Organisms and Populations
  • Ecosystem
  • Biodiversity, and its Conservation and Environmental Issues
