IBPS Po Selection Process

IBPS PO was conducted as Common Written Examination (CWE) in 2015 after which it was followed by the interview of the selected candidates. But then the pattern incurred some major changes, now the exam is conducted on two levels that is Preliminary followed by Mains, which is followed by the interview of the selected applicants. The mode of the examination is online.

There are 3 stages of selection process in IBPS PO: Preliminary, Mains and Common Interview.

Preliminary Exam includes 3 papers, Reasoning Ability, Quantitative Aptitude and English Language consisting 100 questions of 100 marks with time duration of 1 hour.

Mains exam includes 5 papers Reasoning Ability, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness and Computer Knowledge consisting 200 questions of 200 marks with time duration of 140 minutes. The applicant must clear Prelims to sit for Mains Exam.

The candidate who qualified Preliminary and mains Exam can appear for the Common Interview.

The exams also have Negative marking for every wrong answer 0.25 deducted per answer. Each Candidate is required to score minimum passing marks in each section to be qualified for selection in the next section.

  • Preliminary Examination

Number of section: 3 (Reasoning Ability, Quantitative Aptitude and English Language)

  • Mains Examination 

Mode of Exam: Online

Total marks: 200

Duration of exam: 140 minutes with sectional timing.

Type of question: Objective type

Number of Question: 100

Number of section: 5 (Reasoning Ability, Quantitative Aptitude and English Language, General Awareness and Computer Knowledge)

Negative marking:  0.25 for each wrong answer

Normalization of scores: Yes

Final allotment (scores counted for merit): Yes

  • Common Interview

Applicants who have cleared both IBPS PO mains and prelims are separately called for common interviews by the concerned organizations.

Total marks: 100 marks

Qualifying marks: 40% minimum (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD applicants)

(2) Proof for Date of Birth

(3) Proof for photograph Identity

(4) Reservation Caste Certificate (if applied)

(5) Medical Certificate (for candidates with physically Disabled)

(6) Experience Certificates

(7) Printed copy of Valid Calls Letter

(8) Graduation Mark sheets

(9) NOC from respective department (for applicants who are pursuing any Government Jobs / Public Sector)
