The Central Board of Secondary Education – CBSE is an education board for private and public schools under the Union Government of India, commonly abbreviated as CBSE. The first Indian board of education to be set up was the Uttar Pradesh Board of High Schools under the jurisdiction of Rajputana in 1921. The Indian government set up a joint Board in 1929 that was named as Board of High School and Intermediate Education, Rajputana. It involved Ajmer, Vindhya Pradesh, and Bhopal, and later came to be known as the Central Board of Secondary Education or CBSE board.

CBSE board affiliates all private schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Vidyalaya and schools approved by the central government.

CBSE Examinations

The CBSE board exams for Class 10 and Class 12 are conducted every year in the month of March and announce results by the month end of May. CBSE board also conducts the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) for admission in allied medical colleges of India. Apart from the above-mentioned examinations, the board also conducts the central Teacher’s Eligibility Test and Class X proficiency test. The CBSE is marked as one of the world’s leading exam-conducting bodies after the addition of NET in the year 2014.
